Meet the Staff
Michael Hewson, Senior Executive Director of Undergraduate Academic Affairs — Michael has more than a decade of experience in corporate and university leadership, and he has extensive expertise with individual and nonprofit finance and administration and with Information Technology. Prior to joining Rutgers, Michael served as Project Manager for Financial Planning for Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he instituted sweeping changes in their organizational structure, budget & financial reporting, and faculty and student IT services. He was also instrumental in developing academic enrichment opportunities and research enterprises to help further the advancement of vital mission areas within RWJMS.
Michael’s experience in leadership positions, ranging from Morgan Stanley, AXA Equitable, and Credit Suisse to Rutgers University and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School gave him the experience to serve in this important role as we expand our services in a wide variety of student outreach programs, from Disability Services to EOF, from STEP/ LSAMP and TRIO programs to Upward Bound, and from the Learning Centers to the Geology Museum, to name but a few. His expertise in finance and administration and grants management means that we will be well positioned to assist Rutgers University in continuing the growth of these and other programs at a time when public education has struggled to keep pace with private universities and at a time when key constituencies of our student body have struggled financially to achieve their educational goals.
Patricia Mancuso, Director of Business and Administration — Patty is responsible for managing the overall budget for the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, as well as the budgets of many units within UAA. A graduate of Douglass College, Patty has been part of the Rutgers team for the past sixteen years, initially with the Rutgers Student Activities Business Office, where she facilitated the goals and programming needs of hundreds of varied student organizations of Rutgers, and for the past five years with UAA. She is strongly committed to supporting the work of the units of Undergraduate Academic Affairs in launching exciting educational initiatives, providing instructional support, and creating academic engagement opportunities for the undergraduates of Rutgers University.
Kathleen Teichman, Business Manager — Kathleen Teichman provides central fiscal oversight for the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) programs at the University. Ms. Teichman works in conjunction with the EOF Central office in the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education in Trenton and is responsible for reporting and compliance related to all University EOF State contracts and institutional commitment. Ms. Teichman’s professional experience includes serving as the administrator for the Rutgers College Educational Opportunity Fund Program which entailed budget planning and accountability, student retention reporting, and student advising. Prior to coming to Rutgers, Ms. Teichman was a staff assistant for a Senior United States Senator in Washington, D.C.
Kathleen Bousquet, Business Specialist — Kathleen J. Bousquet has enjoyed working at Rutgers for over thirty years. She joined the EVPAA Shared Services Office as a Business Specialist in 2007 when the office was first created. Previously, Kathleen served as a Student Life Administrator and Accountant at Cook College for over 25 years. Kathleen earned a BA with Honors from Rutgers University. She and her husband met at Rutgers and were married at Kirkpatrick Chapel. Their daughter is a class of 2005 Rutgers graduate.
Janis Roden, Business Specialist — Janis Roden analyzes and reviews financial data interprets policy for the units the Business Office supports. Ms. Roden joined Rutgers in 2008, initially in the UE/SA IT unit where she was responsible for purchasing and tracking IT equipment for 45 units. She also collaborated with the staff to develop and implement a Help Desk certification program and co-produced surveys for end users to improve service. She earned her BS from Rider University and has a strong background in financial analysis which she developed during her nearly 20 years as an actuary.
Kathy Piano, Administrative Assistant - Kathy Piano joined Rutgers 10 years ago and has worked in several departments before coming to UAA Business and Administration office. She provides administrative assistance to the Senior Executive Director. Supports the business office and staff. Maintains the budgets and accounts for grant funded programs -LSAMP and STEP.
